The "Get Windows 10" nightmare is going to return, as Microsoft has started providing the PC Health Check app as an automatic update for many devices running Windows 10 version 2004.
Specifically, laptop computer Health Check app, that is responsible for helping determine whether your device meets what's needed to set up Windows 11, is no longer a manual download but an automatic update that is delivered via Windows Update.
Microsoft says devices running Windows 10 version 2004 and then might find laptop computer Health Check app as update KB5005463. Worth knowing, however, is the update is exclusive to Windows 10 version 2004, that is necessary to install Windows 11 to begin with anyway.
"This update installs laptop computer Health Check application onto Windows 10, version 2004 and then devices. However, we won't install PC Health Check on Windows 11 devices. PC Health Check includes diagnostics to monitor device health and troubleshooting to improve performance, all from the ease of a single dashboard," Microsoft says.
"This update will be downloaded and installed automatically from Windows Update," it adds.
Only aimed at Windows 10 version 2004 and later (not Windows 11, though)
Laptop computer Health Check app comes in handy if you're still on Windows 10 and want to determine if your device meets the system requirements for Windows 11. Probably, Microsoft is which makes it an automatic update to better determine what devices ought to be offered the Windows 11 update.
"By default, when you open laptop computer Health Check application, it will automatically install important application updates when they become available. PC Health Check users won't be able to turn off automatic updates," the organization explains.
If you're on Windows 11 or on an earlier version of Windows 10, you obviously won't see the update in Windows Update.
